Menstrual Health Day Story

This girl's first period story is a reminder that menstrual health education is crucial for girls and women everywhere!

‘‘Even though I’m 23, my first period is still stuck in my mind. When I was 14, I woke up one morning feeling something strange. When I got out of bed, I found my clothes were stained with blood and drops flowing down my leg. I thought I was sick and losing this blood would lead to my death.

I called my mother in panic and I was shaking as I entered the room. I told her: Mom take me to the hospital, I’m bleeding, and I will die!

My mother understood the situation very quickly, calmed me down, and told me not to worry. She explained everything about periods to me and reassured me this was normal.

So I advise every girl: don't worry and don't be afraid if you see too much blood or feel pain. All you have to do is tell your mother or any woman at home close to you and trust her.

I hope there will be information or brochures distributed to female students in school so that they can gain more knowledge on this subject.’’
