5 things you need to know about SRHR!

Masarouna is 5-year program that works with and for young people so they can claim their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). But what is SRHR? It's a term you might be familiar with but what does it actually mean? And why are these rights important? Here are 5 things you need to know about SRHR!

  1. SRHR stands for sexual and reproductive health and rights. SRHR encompasses the different rights everyone is entitled to around sexual and reproductive health.

  2. Everyone has the right to SRHR! We all have the right to health, and this includes SRHR. Ensuring SRHR for all is essential to achieving gender equality and the sustainable development goals.

  3. Do you know how many people will lack at least on SRHR service throughout their life? 4.3 billion! That’s a lot.

  4. That’s because ensuring SRHR for all is a global challenge. Why’s that? Well, social norms make it difficult to talk openly about SRHR. SRHR information, products, and services may be unaffordable or inaccessible. Intersecting factors like race, gender, and class impact our ability to claim our SRHR too.

  5. Everyone benefits from ensuring SRHR for all! SRHR is important for our health but when everyone can claim their SRHR, it has a positive impact on family, community, and society too. That’s because being SRHR is central to economic empowerment, achieving gender equality, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
